Believe it or not, I finally I have a job- yey me! I have always loved charity work from when I was university. So when I got offered the opportunity to be a paid fund-raiser I jumped in with both feet. I was buzzing but scared all at the same time. Let me tell you how it happened…
The day before the Royal Wedding (it was the Thursday- I remember because I knew the next Monday was a bank holiday), I was stopped by a fund-raiser trying to get direct debits from people. You know the people I’m on about- you avoid them in the street because you think you are skint and don’t want to feel guilty for not donating for charity. But I got stopped. What can I say? I don’t like ignoring people, its not nice. He went through his dialogue- me feeling bad already because here’s me just coming from the jobcentre with a bank balance of -£200, he asks me if I can donate I explain my circumstances and passes on my details to his boss. The next Wednesday- after thinking I wasn’t going to get a call, they called and offered me an interview for the next day… In LIVERPOOL, mind that’s about 40 miles away from me. But I thought “fuck it, I’ll do it!”. The next day I was packing for the training weekend 
they had offered me the job that night
The training was fun, long with a big ass bag, but it got me over the fear of approaching people. Now two weeks on- I’ve had a lot of ups and downs but I think I’m on track (also helps that now I’m +£200 ) I’m what a lot of people call a “Chugger”, I had never even heard this term until I got this job, apparently it means Charity + Mugger = Chugger, I prefer to think of it as a Charity Hugger personally, because I don’t steal, I inspire! So until I can no longer inspire myself I am going to be a Chugger!
